Two weeks after planting and with nearly continuous rain, while our gardens are dripping and pouting, the rice loves it! Echoes of the monsoon parts of the world.
Plants have doubled in height and are beginning to "tiller", where they add new stems, generally two at a time, forming an ever-larger clump.
As the plants shape up, the planting grid and lines (or wiggles!) become more apparent.
The plants are beautiful and it is very peaceful just checking on their progress daily. Eventually, maybe, we'll get so calm and relaxed that we will just sit and watch the rice grow, enjoying the patterns reflected in the water. Ommmmm.....
